Anuruddhasutta
A former partner of Venerable Anuruddha, now a deity named Jālinī, tries to tempt him with heavenly pleasures. But he has seen a higher happiness.
ฉบับหลวงอนุรุทธสูตรที่ ๖
ข้อความไทยนี้คือ พระไตรปิฎกภาษาไทย ฉบับหลวง ซึ่งแปลจากพระไตรปิฎกบาลีคนละฉบับกับบาลีที่แสดงอยู่ด้านล่าง จึงไม่ได้เรียงตรงกันบรรทัดต่อบรรทัด — อ่านเป็นสำนวนแปลอิสระอีกฉบับหนึ่ง
ข้อ ๖สมัยหนึ่ง ท่านพระอนุรุทธพำนักอยู่ในแนวป่าแห่งหนึ่งในแคว้นโกศล ฯ
ข้อ ๗๗๔ครั้งนั้นแล เทวดาชั้นดาวดึงส์องค์หนึ่งชื่อชาลินี เป็นภรรยาเก่าของท่านพระอนุรุทธ เข้าไปหาท่านถึงที่อยู่ ครั้นแล้วได้กล่าวกะท่านด้วยคาถาว่า ท่านจงตั้งจิตของท่านไว้ในหมู่ทวยเทพชั้นดาวดึงส์ ซึ่งพรั่งพร้อมด้วยอารมณ์อันน่าใคร่ทั้งปวงที่ท่านเคยอยู่ในกาลก่อน ท่านจะเป็นผู้อันหมู่เทวดาแวดล้อมเป็นบริวารย่อมงดงาม ฯ
อ. เหล่านางเทพกัลยาผู้มีคติอันทราม ดำรงมั่นอยู่ในกายของตน สัตว์ทั้งหลายเหล่านั้นแม้เป็นผู้มีคติอันทราม ก็ถูกนางเทพกัลยาปรารถนา ฯ
ข้อ ๗๗๖ท. เหล่าสัตว์ผู้ไม่ได้เห็นที่อยู่อันเป็นที่น่าเพลิดเพลินของนรเทพชั้นไตรทศ ผู้มียศก็ชื่อว่าไม่รู้จักความสุข ฯ
ข้อ ๗๗๗อ. ดูกรเทวดาผู้เขลา ท่านไม่รู้แจ้งตามคำของพระอรหันต์ว่า สังขารทั้งปวงไม่เที่ยง มีอันเกิดขึ้นและเสื่อมไปเป็นธรรมดา บังเกิดขึ้นแล้วย่อมเสื่อมไป การเข้าไประงับสังขารเหล่านั้นเสียได้เป็นสุข บัดนี้ การอยู่ครอบครองของเราไม่มีอีกต่อไป ตัณหาประดุจดังว่าข่ายในหมู่เทพของเราก็ไม่มี สงสารคือชาติสิ้นไปแล้ว บัดนี้ภพใหม่ไม่มีอีกต่อไป ฯ

With Anuruddha

Ekaṁ samayaṁ āyasmā anuruddho kosalesu viharati aññatarasmiṁ vanasaṇḍe.
At one time Venerable Anuruddha was staying in the land of the Kosalans in a certain forest grove.

Atha kho aññatarā tāvatiṁsakāyikā devatā jālinī nāma āyasmato anuruddhassa purāṇadutiyikā yenāyasmā anuruddho tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā āyasmantaṁ anuruddhaṁ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi:
Then a certain deity of the company of the thirty-three named Penelope had been Anuruddha’s partner in a former life. She went up to Anuruddha, and recited these verses:

“Tattha cittaṁ paṇidhehi,
“Set your heart there,
- 2.2
yattha te vusitaṁ pure;
where you used to live:
- 2.3
Tāvatiṁsesu devesu,
among the gods of the thirty-three,
- 2.4
sabbakāmasamiddhisu;
whose every desire is granted!

Purakkhato parivuto,
At the fore of a retinue
- 2.6
devakaññāhi sobhasī”ti.
of divine maidens, you’ll shine!”

“Duggatā devakaññāyo,
“Divine maidens are in a sorry state,
- 3.2
sakkāyasmiṁ patiṭṭhitā;
stuck in substantial reality.
- 3.3
Te cāpi duggatā sattā,
And those beings too are in a sorry state,
- 3.4
devakaññāhi patthitā”ti.
who are attached to divine maidens.”

“Na te sukhaṁ pajānanti,
“They don’t know pleasure
- 4.2
ye na passanti nandanaṁ;
who don’t see the Garden of Delight!
- 4.3
Āvāsaṁ naradevānaṁ,
It’s the abode of lordly gods,
- 4.4
tidasānaṁ yasassinan”ti.
the glorious host of Thirty!”

“Na tvaṁ bāle vijānāsi,
“Fool, don’t you understand
- 5.2
yathā arahataṁ vaco;
the saying of the perfected ones:
- 5.3
Aniccā sabbasaṅkhārā,
All conditions are impermanent,
- 5.4
uppādavayadhammino;
their nature is to rise and fall;
- 5.5
Uppajjitvā nirujjhanti,
having arisen, they cease;
- 5.6
tesaṁ vūpasamo sukho.
their settling is such bliss.
- 6.1
Natthi dāni punāvāso,
O Penelope, weaver of the web—
- 6.2
devakāyasmi jālini;
there are no more abodes for me in the heavenly host.

Vikkhīṇo jātisaṁsāro,
Transmigration through births is finished,
- 6.4
natthi dāni punabbhavo”ti.
now there’ll be no more future lives.”
